About Me

Hi there! I’m Alexandria Hardy, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and the owner of Pennsylvania Nutrition Services. I’ve spent over 16 years helping people make healthier food choices through nutrition counseling, creating educational materials, or writing for health publications. My passion is making nutrition simple, accessible, and effective—whether you’re managing a health condition or just trying to eat something green every day.

When I’m not working, I’m wrangling kiddos, eating (and growing!) plants, and discovering new roadside stands.

If you’re looking for practical yet simple evidence-based nutrition advice, I’d love to work with you!

My Story: My Journey to Becoming a Dietitian

Hi, I’m Alexandria Hardy, RDN, LDN – a registered dietitian nutritionist, writer, and the owner of Pennsylvania Nutrition Services.

The journey that led me to dietetics was shaped by personal experiences and challenges. It took time (and a few detours!) for me to find my place in the nutrition field.

As a teenager, I was a multisport athlete who loved to run, play soccer, and compete on the tennis court. But behind the scenes, I struggled with body image and disordered eating. I didn’t understand how much proper nutrition impacted performance and overall health. I thought making “healthy” choices meant simply eating less, and I remember once being proud of having just a plain baked potato with salsa for dinner after a grueling track practice.

When it came time for college, I was torn between creative writing and nutrition. I’d won a national writing award, but my mom encouraged me to pursue something that combined my love of food and fitness. That advice changed everything and ultimately gave me the career of my dreams. I chose Purdue University (Boiler Up!) and earned a dual degree in Dietetics and Nutrition, Fitness, and Health. From there, I completed my internship at Indiana University and officially became an RDN.

Over the past 16 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in clinical research, outpatient counseling, bariatric care, corporate wellness, nonprofit education, and private practice. I’ve also been able to grow a freelance writing career, crafting educational materials, CEU courses, and articles for national outlets like Today’s Dietitian. Every experience — from leading grocery store tours to teaching fourth graders about calcium — has helped shape the way I teach, connect, and communicate nutrition.

Today, I wear many hats: educator, clinician, business owner, writer, and advocate. At Pennsylvania Nutrition Services, I focus on accessible, affordable, and realistic strategies to help individuals and families make informed choices. Whether I’m working with low-income families, presenting at health fairs, or writing for a national audience, my goal is the same – to help others build a balanced and positive relationship with food.

Nearly two decades in, I still love this field and the variety it brings. I’ve found my niche in making nutrition practical and empowering — and I’m just getting started.
